These are examples of the dresses I have made. Click on the pictures to see them in a larger size.
Compassion This is a dress I made for a LARP-character to wear in the summer. It has a laced back and a little train. On the front panel a friend of mine and me painted a pattern with textile dye, which gave this dress its name.
The dress is made out of a heavyweight cotton and has a small blue decorative band around the neck. This kind of dress can be made with different sleeves, as well as in every color or fabric desired by the client. A dress like this is available at approximately: € 100,-
Constance This is another dress I have made for a LARP-character, but this one is made to wear in winter. The neck is very wide and finished with little pearl beads. There are two pearls on the pointy tips of the sleeves as well, which will face upwards from the back of the hand when wearing this dress. The skirt is almost a full circle and forms an enormous base. The dress closes at the back with lacing. A dress like this is available at approximately: € 150,-
Anne Anne was the first dress I made. I made this out of a cotton-wool blend, which makes the fabric move like it is a heavy cotton, but still is light to wear. This dress is hand dyed blue.
The laced back gives this dress a nice fit, but still keeps it a simple dress. Anne has two sleeves; one tight inner sleeve, and one looser outer sleeve which can be closed with lacing at the bottom. There are hand sawn aglets in the sleeve to pull through a cord for this. A dress like this is available at approximately: € 125,-
Chesed This dress was inspired by the Italian Gothic style.Chesed is made out of two colors of Nicky-velours which feels very soft to the skin. This fabric is very supple and moves with you in every movement. Chesed has to be worn together with the belt. This belt is partly inside the dress and partly visible at the front. It is the belt that gives this dress its shape and fit. The back of the dress is not tight against the body and therefore makes a little train behind you when you move. Because of the positioning of the belt right under the bosom and because of the wideness of the dress, Chesed is a very suitable dress when you are pregnant. Because of the wideness of the dress, you can wear lots of layers underneath in winter but it makes it nice and airy during the summer. A dress like this is available at approximately: € 125,-
Kimono Kawasaki This kimono is made out of brown cotton and has double sleeves. The outer sleeves are trumpet-shaped and are finished around the edge with brown (imitation) fur. This kimono is a size 38-40 (English size 32-34, US size 10-12). The obi (what is shown on the picture is a band) is black. Just as Niké, this kimono can be worn open, as a coat over another costume, or closed (like a dress, as it was meant to be worn). This kimono has no cords inside to close it. It is just the obi that is keeping this dress from opening. Around the borders, this kimono is finished with a double strip of the same fabric used in the Kimono. Length: approximately 145 cm. A kimono like this one is available at approximately: € 80,-
Overdress Lovis The original name for this type of dress in medieval times was “Gates of Hell”. It was seen as very vulgar and inappropriate when a dress did not cover the whole body (or, in this case, the dress underneath). Even so, this sort of overdress was well loved. Later on, the form of the apron we know now was inspired by this sort of dress. In medieval times it was easier to wash this overdress then your regular dress when it got dirty.Lovis is made out of very strong and sturdy cotton, which makes the shoulder pieces stand up and the skirt stand out.
Around the armholes I have fastened a piece of braided wool for decoration, keeping it simple. This dress can be put on over the head and has no lacing or other closures. A dess like this is available at approximately: € 90,-
Margoletta This was the first dress I made as an assignment, specifically for a character someone else had made up in a LARP story. This dress is only worn ones for this character; a vampire queen. The dress is made out of night blue and black creased silk, and when the light changes, the color seems to change as well which gives a very lively effect. The dress consists of an underskirt with train, a dress with laced back and a very large hood that one can wear as a shawl and that is held together with a button in the shape of a heart.
It also has a belt, made with a piece of antique lace from my grandmother.
Unique to this dress are the ‘wings', made from a large amount of blue sheer fabric. I call them wings because they trail beautifully and flutter in the wind. This dress was a big experiment, but it turned out the way I wanted it to. A dress like this one is available at approximately: € 220,-
Meriëlla Meriëlla has large trumpet sleeves, a low cut square neckline and a small train that can be held up with a small ring around the finger. This dress is made from creased silk, which seems to change color with the changing of the light, and lined with lining in the same color. The dress closes at the back with a zipper, which makes this dress very close fitting around the body. The dress can be made without the train. This dress can also be made in other colors or out of different fabrics. A dress like this is available at approximately: € 160,-
Niké This kimono is specially made for ‘Stichting Kederan’ (LARP) when they had a Japanese setting. The kimono is made out of very heavy cotton and can be used as a coat over another dress, or closed, like the dress it actually is. The kimono can be closed by using the little pieces of string. Two of them are inside the kimono and two outside. Traditionally one wears an obi (the band around the waist) over the kimono that stretches about three meters. The kimono has a straight shape and therefore limits the freedom of movement. There are no tight inner sleeves. Traditionally there were tight inner sleeves in a kimono, and the outer sleeves were so long that they touched the floor. Sometimes there were little pockets attached to the inside of the outer sleeves. You can order this dress in other colors or fabrics, or with different kinds of sleeves. A dress like this is available at approximately: € 90,-
Pavonis This dress is made from a bit of upholstery I found, to resemble a dress I had seen. I finished this dress with a dark blue satin ribbon around the square neckline, and just below the bosom. When tied with a bow on the back of the dress, the ribbon below the bosom forms the way to close the dress, it is designed this way to establish a better fit. The hem of this dress touches the ground and the sleeves end around knee-height. Because of the expensive looking fabric, this dress is good to use as a merchant’s wife, a princes or Lady.
A dress like this is available at approximately: € 170,-
Rhianon Just as ‘Meriëlla’, Rhianon has a square neckline. The sleeves are finished with a light green satin ribbon. I used a part of antique ribbon around the waistline, which hangs down to knee-height. This dress has a high waistline. In the middle of the belt I attached a gold colored swirly button, surrounded by white pearly beads. I used white creased silk to make this dress. When the light touches this fabric, this dress seems to come alive. Because of the green used on this dress, it looks fresh and it makes you think of spring. This dress has no train. Rhianon is lined with lining, which makes the dress easy to put on and it looks properly fitted. The dress is closed at the back with a zipper, so the fitting is very tight around the body.
A dress like this is available at approximately: € 150,- (note, this price is without ribbons or decoration!)
Swirly This over-dress is made as a part of a wedding gown. This dress has no sleeves and is closed at the center front with a piece of lace and two silver colored buttons on either side. Diagonally, from the right shoulder towards the left hip and over the center back I hand painted an extraordinary swirly garland. On the back I painted a star, a crescent moon and a sun. (Picture is coming soon).
This dress is made from heavy cotton. A dress like this is available at approximately: € 50,-
